LEAK HELP / ILLUSTRATED GUIDE
What should I record when I notice a leak?
A location, a date, and a description are more useful than a guessed cause.
Name the area
Write “upstairs bedroom, window wall” rather than “the roof is bad.” Be as specific as you can without climbing or entering unsafe spaces.
Separate past and present
Say whether water is entering now or whether you are looking at an older mark. If you do not know, keep that uncertainty in your note.
Describe the change
Record whether the mark has grown, appeared again, or followed previous work. Your note helps plan an assessment; it is not a diagnosis.
